Is there an airline policy for elderly travelers?

My dad is flying to visit my sister for Christmas but we aren't sure how well he will do traveling alone. I know airlines have a policy in place for unaccompanied minors, is there such a program for the elderly?

The FAA, TSA and individual airlines all provide some assistance for elderly travelers. For airline assistance, contact the customer support phone number listed at their website.

The TSA provides a list of resources for your family on their website:

Travelers with Disabilities and Medical Conditions

Screening for Passengers Requiring Special Assistance

"Travelers may also request a Passenger Support specialist ahead of time by calling the TSA Cares hotline at 1-855-787-2227."
