I often find myself passionate in answering questions for families about Alzheimer's and other related dementia, there is so much fascinating inforamtion out there! While I am not sure about the information specific to hearing music when alone, I do know and have read much about Music Therapy for those suffering from memory loss. Many studies show that music in fact has a calming effect on folks with memory loss, can encourage movement or participation. The Alzheimer's Association has a great article here: https://www.alz.org/care/alzheimers-d...
With regards to her spending time alone I wonder if looking into the local senior center or a day respite program might be a good idea. It may give her some of not only the social opportunities so many with memory loss benefit from but also the opportunity to participate in activities that are music-focused.
Youtube.com offers some wonderful videos about seniors who suffer from memory loss responding to music!
