I've heard it is called music ear, caused by being alone to much in silence. Turn on a radio or tv. It should go away if that is what it is. You can get more information about it on the internet. Good Luck

I often find myself passionate in answering questions for families about Alzheimer's and other related dementia, there is so much fascinating inforamtion out there! While I am not sure about the information specific to hearing music when alone, I do know and have read much about Music Therapy for those suffering from memory loss. It may give her some of not only the social opportunities so many with memory loss benefit from but also the opportunity to participate in activities that are music-focused. offers some wonderful videos about seniors who suffer from memory loss responding to music!
