How do I reduce the chance of my dad falling?

My dad is very unsteady on his feet due to Parkinson's. I don't want to take away what independence and mobility he still has left but I don't want him to fall and break something either.

This is a great question. My dad has neuropathy as a result of diabetes. He uses a cane but refuses to use a walker. I am so very afraid he is going to fall. How do I handle this?

If your Dad is not using a walker, in the house, suggest it to him. Does he have a "Life Line?' I have Parkinson's too & I attend physio therapy 2 x / week. and it has improved my balance tremendously. I have fallen a lot myself, but I have taken courses on knowing how to fall. They have really helped. The more he walks, the better. In this weather he can walk in the Malls.. I have had to quit driving, and I use wheel trans a lot. Good luck with the above suggestions.
