What are good gift ideas for someone in assisted living?

We just moved to Seattle and recently we heard that our granny is not doing well after we left and was moved to assistant living. We want to give her something from Seattle to let her know that we are thinking about her. She couldn't really hear anymore and she doesn't drink coffee. Any ideas?

There are many gifts that reflect Seattle besides coffee. Depending on your grandmother's tastes she might enjoy local smoked salmon or chocolates from one of the local candy shops such as Theo Chocolates or Frangos from Macys. If you are looking for a non-edible gift I would suggest lavendar bath salts or hand lotion from Pike Place Market or a framed picture of the city or surrounding mountains.

If she has a Christmas tree, you could get her a Seattle ornament. It won't take up a lot of room in her apartment, and is something she can treasure every year.

Send a photo of you and your family with a nice background already framed. She can be reminded of you and it's a conversation reference for other visitors or you when you call.
