What does a dementia therapy dog do and are they worth the expense? If so how do I get one?

Dementia therapy dogs can do many things, from leading a person home to trigger an alarm in the house when the person with dementia falls. Most importantly however they provide companionship and an anchor to every day routine. Contact your local Alzheimer's Assocation chapter to see if services are available in your area.
