presenter Dr. Lauren Shaiova, MD for an overview of when hospice
care is appropriate for your geriatric clientele.
In New York State, the median length of stay on Hospice is 9-17
days, and Hospice is intended as a benefit for patients during the
final six months of life. This presentation will familiarize Nurse
Case Managers, Hospital Discharge Planners and Medical Social
Workers with the criteria for making a timely referral to Hospice,
allowing patients and their loved ones to take full advantage of
these comprehensive and compassionate services.
