“When I was a young child I used to visit my Grandfather in a
nursing home. As a Brownie, my troop also used to volunteer at
nursing homes too! We would put on a show or color pictures for the residents; anything to make their day brighter. I will never forget my Grandfather's smile when I came to visit him in my scary witch Halloween costume or Bud, the resident I met on a Brownie trip. I colored a picture for Bud and he proudly taped it to the back of his wheelchair for all to see! These experiences have had a profound effect on my life and I learned at a very young age how much I enjoy working with seniors and making a difference in their lives. Today, we have so many choices when it comes to Senior Care and it can be an emotionally and physically exhausting process. Shelane is a graduate from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's degree in communication studies.
