A Note From Karen

"Most of us tend to float through life and think that everything will remain status quo. Then, suddenly, a loved one needs care and we aren’t prepared. I visited my parents in Michigan and on the first day there they both fell right in front of me, literally an arm’s reach away. Mom and Dad needed help and A Place for Mom provided the options."

Reviews and Testimonials

"Please accept my sincere appreciation for the help and knowledge you are rendering to secure care for my wife Lucy. For months, I have been running down blind alleys trying to find out what kind of help is available for seniors with her medical problems, which places an overwhelming burden on the primary caretaker!.

I was flabbergasted to learn what is available from the organizations you mentioned, even after speaking to the VA and Medicare, which informed me that the kind of assistance I need is not available!

The information concerning the availability of these programs is esoteric, and the general public has little or no no inkling of what services are available. Please continue this essential service, which is of paramount importance to seniors, whose many care taker's mental and physical capacities are being stretched to the limits every day. The more we know about these services, the easier it becomes to ask for assistance before a situation develops into a crisis mode.

God bless you Karen and the other people like you!"

"In early Summer I contacted “A Place for Mom” and asked for help in Phoenix. My 92 year old Aunt was nearing the time for moving to assisted living. She was living in El Mirage, AZ, at the time and I knew nothing about the area. You began providing me with information on several different assistant living facilities near here. You also provided very informative emails that also helped me understand what my Aunt was feeling as she neared having to give up her independence.

I am happy to report I moved her to Randolph, Wisconsin, to “Continental Manor”—Golden Living assisted living facility. Lorene grew up about 10 miles from Randolph and her parents, two brothers and husband are buried near there. So she chose to move from Phoenix to Randolph to make her final years easier for her, my brother and myself. She has a small apartment but because she is legally blind with macular degeneration they gave her the apartment right across from the nurse’s office; kitty corner from the lounge; and just a few steps down the hall from the dining room. She has reported that she enjoys the people, the staff and the many activities she is now participating in. An example is: On Sat, Oct 26th, the facility hosted 200 children for trick or treat. Local businesses provided candy, little gifts and the residents handed out the goodies to the children. A fun time was had by all. Also, there is a resident cat in the assisted living facility named Sebastian. So before I left to return home I bought some kitty treats for my Aunt to give to Sebastian. They are now best friends. He waits outside her room and when the staff walks by they knock, open her door and ask if she wants to see Sebastian. He spends many hours with her being petted and sleeping on one of her chairs. My favorite story is that he now jumps up on her seat which is attached to her walker and rides to the various activities with her. Is that not the greatest?

So, again I thank you for making this so much easier for me to handle. I wish you the very best and hope you will continue helping people like me who didn’t know where to begin. You are the best."

"I can not thank you enough for your help last Thursday. Thank you for contacting some of the homes. Mountain Park Senior living did reach out to us, and my father -in -law likes the place and hopefully is moving in tomorrow.

If you ever need a reference please don't hesitate to call me.

You are one of the most caring professionals who is also just fantastic at her job. Please don't change careers, there are so many people out there who could use your help.

Thanks again for everything."
