The hospital did not catch that my loved one had actually had a stroke the day before they moved her to Whitney Place, even though I told them that something was wrong. The nurse at the hospital would not listen to my concerns. I also told the people at Whitney Place that something was wrong and they worked with us helping to change meds (which I thought at the time must be the problem.) Everyone was kind and compassionate. The PCA was so kind! Speaking softly and encouragingly - when she didn't know I had just arrived and her back was toward me, I actually startled her when I spoke. I was so very relieved to know that when family wasn't around, the staff was wonderful. The nurses kept in touch with me almost daily, giving updates and asking questions. And they did have quite a challenge since we did not know what had brought the change to my loved one and she was declining quickly. I would certainly recommend Whitney Place to others.

Lack of staff, high turnover, Safety issues
My parent stayed on the memory care floor for over a year. As she declined, we noticed her care dropped also. She wasn't bathed, She ran out of clothes and her laundry was piled high and on one occasion at around 8:30 a.m., I found her soaking wet in pajamas and a dark room. This is after breakfast! Did they forget about her?
We also noticed that the CNA's would sit behind the desk and the residents would be down the hall in the lounge watching something on TV. Their activity calendar was not followed at all. Occasionally, a new activity staff member would show up, but the turnover was ridiculous, so they never lasted.
We moved her out and she has been at an amazing facility for the past year and they are amazing. It's like night and day. I also found out though, through a staff member that actually also works at this place and already knew my mother, that she fell often at Whitney and it was never recorded, not was I notified. Disturbing. Be wary.

We had a good tour experience with Whitney Place. It seemed like a great facility to have a loved one in. The room layout was strange which was why we decided to look further.

Completely understaffed
Completely understaffed. I am repeatedly told that the staff does not have time. For example, Visiting hours are Wednesday and Friday for 15 minutes from 1:00-3:00 pm. The reason? They don’t have staff to walk patients down. There is only 1 staff person monitoring guests regardless of how many visitors. (And if patients aren’t with family- what are staff doing inside?????). No weekend visits allowed. They seem to think this is ok that working people cannot visit their loved ones. And 15 minutes? I am so sad.

Overall, we're happy, but communication could be improved
The community did a good job of keeping my mom safe and there have been no cases of Covid-19. They don't communicate with the resident's families well enough. We receive almost no communication or information about my mother's care. We have to reach out ourselves and ask the direct in order for us to get anything from the staff.

Amazing Place and Amazing People
When my Mom moved in I could never have imagined a time where I wouldn't be able to visit her but COVID-19 has changed the world. We know that she is in the best possible place and is getting the best possible care in these uncertain times. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff at this facility! They are skilled, loving, caring and take care of my Mom just like I would - they are now an extension of our family.

Great Value for the cost
Whitney Place is good for people with mid dementia and can still function on their own. Staff is hands off and not overly attentive. Sometimes they argue with the residents. Duties are assigned and followed per their role. For example, there is an Activities person who does social groups, painting, singing, etc. The care taking staff do not participate in activities, rather they do daily care and serve the food. Care Coordinator is fantastic and keeps a pulse on what is going on.

"A wolf in sheep's clothing"
In the 4 years my mother was a resident at Whitney Place Westboro the care and food went down-hill considerably. Most (not all) of the aids are very task oriented and not compassionate. Care NOT resident based! In my opinion the staff is not adequately trained to understand dementia and the varied ways it affects people. Don't let the fancy outward appearance of the facility fool you. Care, communication and compassion are greatly lacking.

Great Place
Whitney Place at Westborough was a very nice and clean community that we toured. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We chose another community that was a better match for our needs.

Lovely Staff
My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far we have no complaints of how things are going for her. The property is clean and they have a great activity program that I am hoping she gets involved in when she feels up to it. The only complaint that she has seems to have is the meals. They need some improvement in the quality and taste.

My mother has great care at this community. The staff is excellent in everything they do to assist her. They offer her alot of activities for her to participate in to help keep her active. Pleasant and Helpful
My mother-in-law recently moved from the independent living at [Removed] to the assisted living area. Every single employee was incredibly helpful and upbeat throughout the process going over and beyond to see that she had what she needed. Each request was met with smiles and help. It gives me such confidence to know that she is being so well taken care of.

Whitney Place - The Right Decision
At Whitney Place, the Tapestry Program for seniors with memory loss has been a caring and helpful experience for my Mother. She shares a companion suite with her "new friend" after many years living alone. The well-trained staff and management team provide a variety of activities and outings that make everyone happy! The food is good; the facility and grounds are clean and beautiful. I would choose it for myself!

Navigating Elder Care, Independent and Assisted Living
My relationship with The Willows and Whitney Place facility and the very professional, compassionate staff that unite, as a well balanced team, to assist it's residents and help their family members, caregivers, navigate this challenging time in life began this past July. I was referred to The Willows and Whitney Suites Sales Counselor Sherry [removed] by Debra [removed], Executive Director of Geriatric Resource Centre. Me and my immediate family were struggling to find the best place for my mother and father whose health went down hill after living 46 years in Southern NH.
We searched from Concord, NH - South to the Westborough area, seeking a facility that provided continuous healthcare, independent living, assisted living and nursing care. This effort was taking place while we were caring for my mother and father and preparing their residence for sale which is very common when these decisions are NO longer a choice. Deb [removed] provided excellent direction, understanding my parents physical and financial criteria and directed us to Sherry [removed] at Whitney Place.
Our experience since this past July has been consistent, The Willows, Whitney Place and The Beaumont all share a common traits. The staff are friendly, courteous, driven professionals that strive to make their facility and care perfect. Our experience, from our 1st meeting with Sherry [removed], through all of the admission, financial paper work, the medical aspects and the move has been nothing short of incredible.
Under the management of Executive Director Ben [removed], The Willows and Whitney Place provide consistency and reliability in facilities, amenities, food, staff and grounds, all in a very convenient location, walking distance to restaurants and shopping.
