I would recommend.
It is a smaller community so it has a more cohesive community feel. Everyone knows each other and helps each other. The grounds are beautiful. They have lots of sidewalks. The food is good. They have several floor plans some have balconies or sunrooms. There are lots of choices. They also have Garden homes with 2-3 bedrooms and attached garages.

One of the best things about current changing times is how people see themselves as they grow older. People have greater expectations of this time of life. They want to do more, learn more, maintain good health, and be less burdened. There is a time and a place in your life for this new kind of senior living. The place is University Place. Created by Franciscan Communities in affiliation with Purdue University, University Place is ready to meet your expectations. Located in West Lafayette, Indiana, University Place is the next-door neighbor of Purdue University. The senior living community is close to many community amenities including grocery stores like Wal-Mart and Target. There are also plenty of pharmacies in the area including CVS and Walgreens. The Lafayette community also has plenty of restaurants and shopping centers in the area for seniors, and their families to frequent.
University Place itself offers a broad spectrum of beautifully designed residential choices ranging from independent living to assisted living with memory support available when needed. My review of University Place
My loved one was a resident at this facility for two years. I would give them a rating of 3 based on those two years. However based on the last six months I would give them a rating of 2, due to staffing levels and morale. Besides food/dining, all other areas were lacking. I was not notified when my loved one had COVID the first time. Administration didn't seem to give much attention to the Memory Care unit. Much more attention was given to the Independent and Assisted living areas where residents could advocate for themselves. There were a few caring Staff in Memory Care, but they couldn't make up for lack of staff and low morale. I wish it had been different since my loved one had formed a strong attachment to another resident. That was one of the main reasons I didn't move my loved one sooner.

Four family members love living at University Place
Four of my relatives currently life at University Place, and I could not be happier with the care they are getting and the lovely community in which they live. The staff is professional and friendly, and the place is always clean and well cared for. The dining service is top notch. It is always a pleasure to visit. I know that my loved ones are in good hands, and I am considering living there some day when I retire.

We Love University Place
We have lived in a three bedroom garden home at University Place for 16 years. Our facilities are excellent and management takes care of our yard and any problems with dispatch. The dinning service excels and dinner has a country club atmosphere. Our education committee is very active and provides interesting and instructive multimedia presentations. Musical entertainment as well as movies and social events are commonly available. We are located next to an flowered meadow and lake with many walking/bicycle trails sheltered from traffic. A five minute bus ride away is a Big Ten University where we have taken many courses in this attractive midwestern town not far from two big cities. We love it here.

We have lived here for 17 years. Every day we expressed thanks for being able to live here. We are served by assoiates who are helful and always concerned with our well-being. We are fortunat to have an executive director and adminisrators who are exceptionally competent and always concerned about our well-binb. One illustration of this is how well things have run dduring the pandemick. Itiis also illustrated in how well kept UP is phsically. We would ot hesitate to enthusiastically reccomend UP to any potential resident.

New Residents...
We are new residents of University Place as of [date removed]. Prior to our decision to make the move to UP, we visited six times for lunches, dinner, Sunday brunch and special Presentations both with family and friends. Residents, staff and the feel -at-home comport exceeded our expectations of what a Senior Living place would be like. Their slogan ''Living Joyfully'' is very appropriate and we look forward to enjoying our new home.

Thankful and Blessed
University Place has been a blessing for our family. My mother has been residing there in an Independent Living apartment for a year and a half. She is 90 years old and change certainly didn't/doesn't come easily. Living alone without additional help is not an option for her. But University Place has safety nets in place and are very cooperative with my siblings and myself as her caregivers which allows her to maintain her sense of independence.
As her caregivers we are very familiar with the staff and programs at University Place. The staff is OUTSTANDING and are receptive to the needs and wishes of the residents. They are always professional and friendly.

An awesome experience
Everyone that enters University Place is treated like family. My dad was recently in the Health Care Center with COVID19 no visitation was allowed. We were able visit him through the window and the team kept us updated on his situation. He constantly bragged on how good the food was! He also enjoyed the company of the staff members.

UP is the best!
I am so thankful for University Place! During COVID the precautions taken and care for my parents (one in independent living, one in assisted living) have been wonderful, as has the daily communications. No - zero! - cases of the virus is extraordinary. Because of UP I don’t need to worry. Thank you to all the staff and management!!

A Place To Call Home
My Mother moved here last year and lives in the Independent Living homes. She couldn't be happier and I see her thriving each and every day. What a blessing this community is and the management and all Staff are overwhelmingly focused, professional and friendly. It is truly a place to call home.
Now having witnessed from far away the handling and loving communication they have provided their retirement community about the COVID virus is a credit to the leadership and the support of the staff. I'm impressed and could see myself living here some day.

Great place to live...
I have lived in Independent Living at University Place for two years. I have a peaceful and spacious 2-BR apartment on the first floor with a lovely covered patio facing east toward the Celery Bog. The Bog is available any time I want to visit and I walk there daily with other residents. I love the large windows which let in the morning sun. The best thing about our community is the camaraderie experienced by the residents. We are small enough that we know each other well and most participate in activities which benefit all of us. We are a resident-driven facility and take responsibility for the wellbeing of all residents. There is good communication and support between the residents and staff.

Awful management!!!!
Worst management ever...from the administrator to the DON...all they care about is money...no interest in the staff, don't even know the resident's. Always short staffed...and management site in the office all day, never assisting when needed....I would never put my loved one in this facility

It was okay...
This place was okay. I toured here when I was trying to find a place for my mom. Based on her budget, it was way over priced but it was very nice. The gentleman that I had talked to was very nice but didn’t really help me much other than telling me to call someone else to see what my mother would qualify for. All in all, I decided to go with a different community.
