Review for The Winfield at Richmond Heights
We really like the place. Unfortunately my mom was only there for one week. I did shop around snd liked it the best. We picked this community because it was near my sister's home. Loved the facility, and I live out of town.

Overall the place is nice, clean, and most of the staff are very friendly. My parents are in the assisted living area. I’m pleased with the nursing team. My concerns are that we were promised a certain dietary plan of a fish option daily. This all changed recently. We were told that are parents would have a choice of a dining time. This has changed as well. They have been mandated to a 4:30 dining slot with no exceptions.

Horrible place! Don't leave your loved one there
They "act" so nice when you go check the place out. Completely cater to you and tell you what you want to hear! Promise you so many things..... Once your loved one moves in and is settled you don't hear back from them. They hardly EVER return your calls. The call buttons are a big JOKE!!! the aides/and some Nurses are ALWAYS sitting in the hallways on their phones. Never held accountable for what they do or DO NOT do with the residents. This place should be shut down or at least investigated by the state!!! The aides and nurses need educated. They do not care about these people and its just plain sad to see. And It doesn't seem like the administrator cares much either. I feel so bad for some of these residents. The only ones that seem to be OK are the independent living residents. I have witnessed so many laying on the floor calling for help in the hallways or their rooms. Its awful! PLEASE do your loved ones a favor and stay away from this place! I wish we would have. :(

Very pleased, would recommend. Great fit for my sister. Caring staff.
We have been very pleased , the staff was very helpful and pleasant . I liked that there was a bedroom and not just one room. My sister ( the resident) was a cook at an assisted living , says that the food is just ok. I would recommend The Winfield at Richmond Heights to others.

The BEST facility!
I could not say enough good things about this facility! My mother has been here for the past 5 years and I don't have a single complaint. All of the staff are phenomenal and the nursing care is the best you'll find anywhere. They have always made sure my mother was thoroughly cared for. They respond very quickly to her pendant/call lights, and are always on top of things. The communication from the facility is outstanding. They offer many different activities to keep the residents entertained and engaged and the food is wonderful! You can tell that ALL the staff from administration to housekeeping really care about the community and their residents. I will never send a loved one anywhere but The Winfield!

Would recommend
There is exercise class 7 days a week. It's chair exercises but my friend says it is challenging. There is a shuttle that is available 3 days a week for dr. appointments. I think 2 days a week for predetermined shopping. The activities are fun and she has lots to choose from.

Our tour at The Winfield was good. Mainly our choice came down to the price. Their marketing person was really helpful and really put in the time and effort with me. She tried to come down on the price as well. And I thought they were really friendly there.

[name removed] was very helpful and knowledgeable. What I liked best about Winfield was that residents in independent living and assisted living ate together and shared activities. It is reassuring to know that there would be social interaction with others who are not mentally compromised. The walk-in closets are definitely a plus!

I would recommend
We chose The Winfield at Richmond because the staff seemed very knowledgeable and attentive when we went to visit. Even with covid, they made sure we were able to see the facility and made a lot of accommodations for us and were just very helpful. The meals were chef prepared and my mom really enjoyed them. She needed help bathing and I felt we had to constantly check to make sure that that was being done, so that was a big concern for us. I would recommend to others looking.

My mother has been a resident at the Waterford in both Independent Living and Assisted Living as her needs changed for 8 years. She has really enjoyed living here. Her independent living apartment was spacious, and she enjoyed a number of the activities as well as the staff members who encouraged her participation. When mom needed more assistance, she moved to Assisted Living which is in a different wing of the building but she was able to eat with her friends and participate in the activities that she enjoyed when in independent living. This was a real plus as it would have been difficult for her to move to a new facility and get used to new routines, staff, friends etc. There was an adjustment period when mom moved to Assisted Living. However, with the addition of a new director of assisted living and nursing supervisor there have been changes in communication, level of care and follow through that have been very positive. The caregivers in general are kind and helpful and stop by to greet mom even when she does not need assistance. Because of mom’s additional health and cognitive concerns, the staff has worked with the family to put in place additional interventions that have been very helpful in allowing mom to maintain some independence and improve her physical and mental well being. Although this is not a memory care facility, the nursing administrators are well versed in dementia care and offer suggestions to the family as well as directing the nursing staff and caregivers to provide effective interventions. Waterford also provides on-site physical, occupational and speech/cognitive therapy, and can offer an on-site medical doctor and nurse if the family chooses. Providing these services on site is very helpful to the family since we do not need to take her to multiple medical appointments. She thoroughly enjoys her physical therapy sessions and the great staff. Our family works closely with the Waterford staff and we appreciate the listening, care and professionalism that so many of the staff exhibit especially during the challenges presented by the Covid19 pandemic.

I have had 2 family members as residents, one is deceased and one is presently living at Waterford. He has enjoyed being a resident for 4 years, and appreciates the good food and the activities. In addition, the nursing care is superb along with the cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff. It was easy to have this gentleman choose Waterford because of these amenities and attributes, and all has proven to be true for him during these past 4 years. I have recommended Waterford to others and some have lived there.

A Place for Mom has scored The Winfield at Richmond Heights 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
