Happy Mom, Happy Family
Staff have been very welcoming and friendly, including them all knowing her name immediately. We celebrated mom's 80th birthday a month after she moved in and they went out of their way to set up a room for the celebration. The majority of the other residents have also been very friendly and my mom has made friends already. In regards to the facility, although a little older, it is well maintained, clean and maintenance has responded quickly to any requests made.

The staff is exceptional. Extremely helpful, patient and kind. The chef did an excellent job, from what my loved one told me. There could have been a little better communication. I would recommend this facility to others.

Only bad thing is the food not great for elderly. Just school cafeteria food everyone there has complained.The price was good until they tried to raise it. The staff was nice when visiting and the place was clean.

Disappointing experience!
The place turned out to be very clickish, and unwelcoming to new residents. Transportation to Doctor appoints fell short. The hours it was offered, 8:30-12om was not enough time to complete an appointment, and making special arrangements was difficult.
The single elevator was old and prone to breakdowns. With the dining room on the third floor it was used a lot. Residents had to share the elevator with staff hauling trash and kitchen waste as there was no service elevator. The only other way to get up and down were stairs.
Everything seemed to be about money.
The general manager was loud and confrontational and very prone to choosing sides without listening to both sides if a situation.
I would not go back there, nor would I recommend it to family or friends. .
I could go on. There are many more ways this place fell short, but these were the highlights.

Needed to move quickly for health and family. I did not have the luxury of shopping around. 1st impression was a plus. Talking to nurses and therapists who travel to many facilities stating this one was the nicer ones! I woud recommend to family/friends.

Home away from home
My loved one was previously a resident at Truewood by Merrill, Modesto and everything was just great for him at this facility. Walking into this facility was like walking into your own home. The move in process was easy. The food was good. The cleanliness, friendliness, care services and value for cost were great. I would recommend Truewood by Merrill, Modesto to friends and family. In fact, I already have.

The people that work there a wonderful they're always making sure that they're entertaining have things for them to do and their food is wonderful. My dad loves it. The staff is incredible. Truewood by Merrill, Modesto is a beautiful facility. It's a great place and my friend is so happy to be there. The residents are friendly and free to have their small dogs. What a great gift for anyone, much less a single elderly person. The place smells fresh. It's always clean, spotless. The rooms are spacious and clean, it's just perfect. Moving in was no problem. I rate this place top shelf. I would recommend this facility to others!

Comfortable but has problems
There have been many complaints about roaches in the rooms, overcooked food (ex. tough meat), and a lack of thorough cleaning by the staff. Overall, not a good value. It has been very disappointing.

Truewood by Merrill, Modesto -not just a place for mom, a "Great Community for mom- to keep her independence, feel safe
They have good services for the residents: hair and nail salon, activities, try to create a fun environment. I would definitely recommend to others. It's a good community- extremely friendly staff.Very willing to help and make safe for family member. Food could be a bit better- mom complains a little about that.

If You Need A Home, Make It Truewood
Currently the community is on a COVID lockdown. The community is delivering meals to the resident's rooms. They are giving COVID tests if the residents need them. The staff truly care about the us.
Our chef currently is phenomenal. The presentation of food is fabulous, and the taste is good. The residents are able to order or make requests to the meals to assist with dietary needs.
There are activities available all day long. There bean bag baseball, any of the residents are able to join. This is great to assist with socialization. There is a weekly activity of red, white, and blue. Plus we honor our veteran's each day. There are trips such as to the casino, shopping, and more. There is music weekly. There is art activities as well.
There is a bus for transportation. The activities director is very skillful, and I feel she should get an award for all the activities she plans.
The community has an ambassador program for tenured residents to assist in welcoming new residents into the community.

It's a nice and it's clean and safe. The meals have a variety of foods. They offer some activities but they are all sedentary. The exercise class is offered at 10 am once a day.

Unprofessional and regular hiding of complaints by tenants and Family. Food budget cut to bone.
No security. Egos roam large there.
Expensive and poor cleaning of rugs - steam cleaned not once in 2 yrs.

Highly recommend
Standiford Place is a great facility. We chose them because of the value for the money and they were the best out of all of the ones that we looked into. My father in law loves the food served. His apartment size is very comfortable for what he needs. I would recommend them to others looking.
