My step father has Alzheimers and is a resident.
Unfortunately we have had a lot of issues ; missing meds,missing clothing and accessories,difficulties with communication. They want to evict him. Not worth the money my mom pays out of pocket.

Serious issues
The food is truly horrid. The “chef” spends his day at the Assisted facility next door, and the kitchen staff at Independent is a joke. It is shockingly bad.
There is effectively no internet at the facility. Residents might get lucky with a signal outside, but usually have to go somewhere else to check email!!! Bills go unpaid when people with limitations cannot access email!
It was a mistake putting my ex-wife here. We are looking at options.

Weatherly Inn is incredible. When I think of retirement homes I usually think of a slow death and sadness. But there is so much life within the walls of this place. The look, the energy, and the people are above what I think most would expect or hope for.
Unfortunately, my grandmother has never been a nice person. (Even she would attest to that statement.) She is more suited to a 3 star home. So we will not be having her join this lovely place.

The residents her are so friendly and you start to get their names down very fast. I actually love it here. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The apartment is nice, but refrigerator door opens on left at front door, not correct for me. Oh and the carpet is awful. It's an indoor outdoor that has nothing under it. It might as well be linoleum for me. My feet with one foot not coming up enough, I slide and fall forward. So far at least twice a week I've slid to floor getting rug burns under eye, nose and forehead. If I'm not close to something to get myself up with I have to crawl to get there and wonderful rug burns on elbows maybe even knees.

Looks Better Than It Is, And They Don't Hold Their Promises
Our loved one declined in weight quickly due to the lack of care and assistance with eating. The community overall was grossly understaffed. Due to staffing the community lacked cleanliness, and there were several times that there was a severe odor that would travel up the elevator shaft to higher floors because the staff weren't cleaning the rooms, or bathing the residents.
Our loved one wouldn't get assistance with medical concerns that the family notified the community with in the beginning, and this wasn't happening. There were times that the only staff in the community were from agencies and quite a bit of turnover because of the staff not being in the community permanently.
The admin team kept telling the family that things would get better, when the family would bring concerns to the director's attention. The community has since changed directors, since my loved one has moved in.
The community had a comprehensive calendar of activities; however, they would have to cancel activities due to the lack of staff not to be able to assist the residents.

The friendliness of the staff members really depending and varied on who you spoke with and the same goes for the care services. We felt the did not evaluate potential clients very realistically which was part of the reason why our family was so disappointed with our experience.

During our loved ones time there the activities were very limited. Also the community advertised 24 hour around the clock care, but the only thing we ever saw them doing was handing our medication and band aids. We did not feel the nursing staff was adequate to care for the residents.

My loved one is happy with the food. It is a very, very good choice. If you weigh the value to the overall community, I think we made an excellent choice.
They have different activities from group get togethers, social, exercise, excursions, and more.

Be Alert to What is Expected of You and Your Loved One
There is an activity room available for the residents to use; however, not much of variety of activities.
I would recommend the community. Also, ask lots of questions in person with the staff. Sometimes it is hard to understand them over the phone on subjects.
Some of the medication I gave to the community, they lost. They weren't treating a medical condition in my loved one due to the doctor not signing off on the paperwork needed by the community.

Awesome residence for your loved one
I would definitely give them the top rating. I have had a couple of people I know in this community, and I feel like they've had the best care. I was very impressed and very, very pleased with how they were willing to assist our loved one. They really seemed to embrace her. The staff was just awesome. And [name removed] kept everything beautiful and clean.
