Great place with
I have hesitated to write a review as I know everyone has their own personal experiences so these are very subjective. My mom lived pretty comfortably until the last year of her life. At that point her fear of pain and tolerance caused her to ask her independent living home to call 911 several times when my mother requested it. The hospital would find nothing warranting hospital stays and would send her to nursing homes to recuperate. After this became a regular cycle for my sister and me we decided she needed some individual 24 hour care. A place for mom recommended this place and we could tell immediately that his was the right place for her. the attendants were kind compassionate people who dealt with people in the worst stages of their lives. they answered our concerns and made the last 6 months of my mom's life better and they deserve my eternal gratitude for that. The only issue with Ray of Hope which still hangs over our heads and is the reasons that it is not a 5 star review is a financial issue. My mother passed away on the [date removed] and my sister had paid the full amount for the next month. Despite repeated emails and conversations to the contrary, that money was never refund. It seems like such a small thing when you look at how wonderfully your parent was treated and the money itself is not really the issue. It is more the fact that we never heard back as to why that extra months payment was not refunded to my sister. She passed on [date removed] , so that was quite awhile to give us a proper explanation. Thank you again and despite the payment issue, I would highly recommend ray of hope as a dedicated group of people who will care for yor elderly relative in a highly satisfactory manner.

Was shown around by a woman older than my mom. Not once did she talk about the care, but she was trying to impress us with the cleanliness. My mom is more alert than this woman. Not an ounce of warmth to this owner or the home itself.

Please judge for yourself. We welcome tours. All tours are conducted by a very capable, intelligent woman in her mid to late 20's who is a licensed Administrator. Perhaps the previous reviewer was at another house? or written by the competitor a few blocks away. If so, it is truly sad that a person in the senior care field has such an opinion about older women, rather than the respect and dignity and seniors deserve. We are opening our 5th home for valued seniors soon, we must be doing something right!!! Come and visit

More than a ray of hope!
My uncle had a wonderful experience at Ray of Hope. He had been living on his own in his own home until his health required a change. He was in his mid 90's and would not have done well at a typical care facility. He loved the extra care, attention and positive atmosphere. He really felt at home enjoying the little added touches like having his favorite items from Trader Joes on the menu, getting pedicures(he loved those), birthday parties and holiday gatherings. As family members, our worries were minimized as we saw the high level of daily health, emotional and physical care he received. We also appreciated the companionship he received on doctor visits, the time and effort spent with both he and our family and the quick responses they provided when he needed hospital visits. It was a comfort to know that he was always getting fresh air, participating in fun activities and developing friendships with both staff and other clients. He was their first client and stayed with them even through hospice. Hope, Ray and staff had a positive affect on the entire family.

I looked at many small assisted living homes in Pasadena and Altadena. I can say that nothing matches the care and and help given to my mom or to me . Even an ice cream shop and hair dresser. This is the only place I found in Pasadena that has awake staff at night. Highly recommend Ray of Hope if you can get in.

Not for us
We used a place for mom and found this charming little place. The owner talks the talk but has very little knowledge or compassion. She brought my diabetic family member a box of chocolates and then screamed at me "how was I supposed to know he was diabetic" after overseeing care for several months. She is quite elderly herself which became a concern. We left after too many mistakes with meds were made. Buyer Beware. Also high staff turn over.

The right fit
After it was recommended by A Place for Mom we visited the home and Hope, the owner, really impressed us. It just seemed like it was the right fit for our situation. It has a front porch and a back porch where they sometimes just sit and relax or enjoy a meal. It really is like a home, our loved one feels more like she lives there then she is staying there. We are very pleased with them and would recommend a Ray of Hope.
