Be Aware
I would strongly recommend you get your appointment in writing and confirm it a few times in advance prior to showing up. [name removed] is a totally dishonest person. She will come off nice at first but show her true colors shortly after. Our family scheduled a meeting with her in advance and she tried to cancel it a few days prior. However, instead of cancelling it she said she would make it work since she made a mistake. Then she called the morning off and said we missed our appointment because she had moved it to several days earlier without letting us know. She blamed it on corporate and said in a passive aggressive way “sorry for having to reschedule to help people”. All these red flags and dishonestly from the start should not go unnoticed.

Brandon, thank you for sharing your feedback on your experience with our community. As the Executive Director, I want to first apologize for your experience and let you know that it is not the standard we hold ourselves to for our families. We know how critical a tour of the community is for families as they are considering options for their loved ones and our need to make ourselves available for our families. I would welcome an opportunity to visit with you personally at a date and time convenient for you. Please feel free to call me at your soonest convenience at (510)909-3951. Happy and Safe Mom
Our mom has lived at The Point at Rockridge for 8 years. When she first moved in, she had a little dog that she could walk around the neighborhood. She made lots of friends and continues to enjoy living there. Covid has been difficult for everyone, but we felt the management and staff kept our mom very safe throughout. The food there is really good. During Covid, the dining room was closed and all meals were delivered to each room so the chef was working in difficult circumstances. Now that the dining room is open again, we are looking forward to the return of great food. The staff is so caring. We are really lucky to have found this place for our mom.

It was a great choice
The Point has provided our loved a safe place so the value for cost is invaluable. It really has a warm feeling to it which drew us in fairly quickly. There are a lot of activities going on which we are both very pleased with, we have never regretted our decision choosing The Point.

Great Assisted Living Facility
I think the people and the staff for the most part are very caring. I would say do your due diligence and ask a lot of questions of the department leads, and not just the salesperson, to make sure your loved one will be getting everything you're expecting of them. They also had some additional services I wasn't aware of. They have a rehab program I didn't know about, and the woman who leads it is excellent. I would also recommend asking about the ratio of staff to patients. From an assisited living standpoint, I think they're great. I think if you're needing more than that, they need to step up their services on the memory care side. They need more staffing there. I don't think it's reasonable to have 5-7 residents per staff member. I think it needs to be around 2-3 at most. I think the desire to provide that level of care is there. They just don't have the staff. Again, the people are great. The food looks great, but I haven't been able to try it. They talked about a lot of activities, with an ideal situation of residents out of their rooms 90% of the time, but that just hasn't been the case due to Covid.

Great Place for a New Chapter In My Mom's Life
All my ratings are based on our experience during the pandemic. They have been very welcoming and helpful for the residents and families. I believe they have oversold the food. The food isn't as good as what was told to us. There were box lunches at one point due to COVID. I'm very happy with the way they are handling any outbreaks of COVID. The community is very friendly. On the first day another resident came over and introduced herself to our loved one. This has been good for our loved one's social atmosphere. This location was close to friends of our loved one and this was a plus for our loved one. They did a great job at vaccinating the residents against COVID. This provided us peace of mind. Pre pandemic they had several activities available for the residents to choose from to participate in. They currently have limited activities for the residents.

I' glad we found this community for my uncle he is in the memory care here and Its great. They caregivers are very nice and responsive. The community is really clean and well kept up outside. The food could use a little improvement. There are daily activities for them and they get encouraged to join in like crafts and music also have some church services. The staff communicates with me so well since I'm out of state. I would recommend this place.

"Generations" Memory Care Unit at The Point at Rockridge
The Point at Rockridge has a relatively new memory care unit called "Generations." Call and have the receptionist put you on hold so you can listen to the spiel. It's all a pack of lies. There is no individual program designed for anyone. They herd them around in groups during the daytime and sit them in front of a movie, often one they've seen over and over again, after dinner. There is no spiritual care there, as they claim. The caregivers are underpaid and undertrained. With a few exceptions, they are dismissive, condescending and patronizing. I have personally witnessed how absolutely uninterested in and disrespectful of the residents some of them are. [removed]. My mother has gone days without having a meaningful conversation with anyone working there. The food is unappetizing most of the time and the alternative menu that they supposedly offer never gets produced for the residents. The food is often cold by the time it gets upstairs from the kitchen. Residents are refused seconds. My mother has had caregivers [removed] from her and mentally [removed]. Her laundry has disappeared and not been replaced. The facility director, Kirsten, cares more about the facility's reputation than about the residents. Don't expect any cooperation from her if you have a concern. She's all sweetness and light before you move your loved one in. After they're in, it's a different story. Life seems to be much better in assisted living but forget about omelets made to order, an array of desserts, not to mention Mimosas, in Generations. The residents of Generations are treated like second class citizens in the facility despite the exorbitant fees they are charged. If you do decide to put your loved one there, drop in often, at different times of the day and night. And expect to be extremely vigilant in terms of how they are treated and cared for.

A Place for Mom has scored The Point at Rockridge 8.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
