Very Happy for Almost Two Years Now
My dad has been at Memory Care in Chester for almost 2 years now and we are very happy with the facility. We love Sherry, LeMar, Kim, and Sydney especially.
It definitely feels like a family. There may not be a lot of activities that the residents can participate in, but they do their best. They have outside people come in for entertainment and although my dad can't recall a lot of things, he does remember some of them!
We just could not take care of my dad at home any longer and we feel so lucky to have found Memory Care where he can live a safe, content life. The staff is especially receptive to any questions and/or suggestions we have and they are wonderful communicating directly with us.

We needed a place for my father with dementia. When we brought him in for an assessment, they didn't say anything about assisted living being an option. They just said they could take him. They didn't tell us they were closing in 60 days for construction, so we ended up having to move him shortly after moving in. They gave us the 30-day notice of that construction during the Holidays, the timing of which is unethical. They completely dropped the ball on his PT. He has diabetes, and they were supposed to check his blood sugar in the mornings. They barely ever did that, if ever. There was a Covid outbreak, and they never communicated that to the family, nor did they give status updates of any sort. I never saw one single email from the management team during the couple of months he was there. I felt that the aides were really friendly, but the admin/management staff were not so great. The director left, and they never communicated to the families about that transition. They got my dad's laundry mixed up. His watch disappeared. When we took his clothes home, we had to throw them away because the water coming out of the washing machine was filthy. I have nothing positive to say about my experience with Fox Trail. In my opinion, the place should be shut down.

This home was very good until the nurse resident manager left for health issues. History of understaffing causes stress to aides. They struggle to provide activities. Many good aides don’t last. Requires a lot of follow-up to make sure your loved one is taken care of. Lack of communication to family members about their loved ones even when they are not doing well. Terrible record keeping of your loved one and they don’t pass on information to aides during shift changes. It’s dirty. Feces were on a wall next to a toilet on the wall. Bedrooms are not swept. Patients wear 2/3 diaper underwear. They get soaked. During sundowning, they have tied patients to their chairs with sheets. I bought a couch for them and they allowed patients to sleep on it during the night who urinated in it. After my mom died, I reported them to the NJ Ombudsman and they were cited for violations.

Think Twice
Think twice before placing a loved one in this facility. It’s nothing but a BIG LIE and a show. The residents are literally bored to death. It’s a revolving door of help who don’t appear to be qualified or held accountable for their job responsibilities. There is no supervision so they sit on their phones while the residents stare at nothing. Forget about healthy meals too. There is a menu that no one follows and it’s mostly processed foods that are prepared in a filthy kitchen. My mother looks like a bag lady. Her hair is matted to her head, she had dried food on her chin, no bra, food on her shirt, etc. There is no dignity or respect for the residents. Very sad! They need to be fined and shut down! Don’t do this to your loved ones.

Fox Trail at Chester Feedback
They could use some work on communication and better attention to patient care. They do have new director who came in about four weeks ago. She has some type of nursing background and seems to be doing a better job and trying. Our family is getting more phone calls and information, and we hope that things will continue to improve with the new director.

My family and I are very pleased. The employees are very friendly and do an outstanding job. The facility is very clean and well kept. The cleanliness, friendliness, and care services are excellent. I would recommend this place to everyone. We are just really pleased with everything.

Not the right fit for us, but had a homey atmosphere.
I felt that the residents with dementia were further advanced that my mother and that she would not fit in. However, it was a very homey atmosphere and they had a great area for the residents to spend time in outside of their rooms. Also it had a great garden setting for them to spend time outdoors when the weather improved.

A Really Good Place for My Dad
My dad lives at Memory Care Living at Chester. We are very happy with the whole situation. It is very clean and very friendly. So far we have had a positive interaction with the doctors who visit the center, so that is good.
I can't really comment on the activities since I am not there all the time - only when I visit.
Overall we are very pleased and feel that our dad is getting wonderful, loving care.

Not impressed. When we arri...
Not impressed. When we arrived residents on couch watching tv...but most of them sleeping. His mom needs more of apartment like set up rather than house set up. The facility was clean and residents looked well cared for and was secure. Just not good fit for his mom. His mom was very upset with us for looking at the facility. She did not like it all.

They are just a wonderful community. Everything has been going great so far. They are a dedicated Alzheimer community so they know what they are doing. We are very pleased with them. They are very caring and the care they are providing. Seems like they really want to get to know their residents and provide them great care. I would recommend them to anyone.
