Definitely recommended
I would definitely recommend Knollwood Pointe to others. I like the fact that it is so small that you can get to know everyone easier. My loved one has been very complimentary of the staff. They have all been very friendly and caring. She also enjoys the meals. I've been a little lost on some of the policies and procedures when some issues have come up, but I think that was more about me not doing my homework. So far, my loved one been very happy at Knollwood Pointe. As for the value for cost, we were surprised that after only a few months the rent has already increased by $[removed].

Knollwood Pointe is a red-brick senior living community surrounded by wooded greenery. The community is located in the Southern city of Mobile, Alabama.
Whether a senior is in need of assisted living or memory care, the community offers quality care and cozy living accommodations for both. Round-the-clock licensed nursing staff provide a variety of services, from medication assistance to assistance with activities of daily living. If further care is needed, the community offers scheduled transportation services to help seniors attend local medical appointments. While receiving care at Knollwood Pointe, residents have a choice to reside in a studio, companion suite, or one-bedroom apartment. Our Experience
They seem to have a lot of staff turnover since Tarantino took over management. We did have an incident with a couple of PRN CNA's working one weekend. The director promptly addressed the problem and those people were fired. The facility is in need of some TLC, particularly the flooring in public spaces and landscaping. They keep saying they have a contract to get the floors replaced, but I've been hearing that for months and nothing has been done. We can't really afford the best though. So it works for our budget. I just have to visit frequently to make sure Mom is getting the care that she needs.

I would not recommend this facility to others. The staff is not helpful at all. The food is mediocre. There are no activities, management is constantly changing and the cooks are always walking out.

Cleanliness- seems to be clean but dingy. Carpet needs replacing.
Friendliness- aides are friendly as is office staff. Some nurses leave much to be desired. It does NO good to call on phone as you can't get a person. Leaving a message is a waste of time.
Quality of care-leaves you wondering if you have done the right thing. He doesn't seem to be showered on schedule. Fingernails are always dirty. Stays in adult underwear/diaper for extended periods.
Activities-only know about planting residents in front of the TV. These are memory care residents.
Value-we liked this facility for the separate areas for activities, dining, and TV. It was also the cheapest but we liked it best.
I am not sure that there is a place for 100% satisfaction. Price is going up 20%.
Food-what I have seen looks good but since residents don't have knives to cut food, they pick it up with fingers if a fork won't cut it. If bread gets too browned, it gets served anyway. Ice cream gets put out while dinner plate is still quite full which causes one of two things: it melts or they quit the food for the ice cream!

Clean friendly caring facility
To my knowledge I'm the only family member that visits my mother. I regret that I wasn't informed when she came down with Covid as I am co- Guardian and the only family visitor she has. Yes, I would recommend this community to others. It's a nice facility and close by for me .

We toured Knollwood Pointe when searching for Assisted Living for our loved one. This facility was very good. The cleanliness, friendliness, and atmosphere all seemed very good based on what we saw from our tour.

Things are going good for us at Knollwood Pointe. They have been very accommodating and helped us with the whole move in process. They offer assisted living as well as memory care. It is a smaller facility that is more personal and family oriented. When you talk to them about what needs to be done, they take care of it right away. I certainly recommend them to other families.

This is a great community! The staff is very friendly and seems to take a genuine interest in the residents and their care. They are great about communication with the family. They do offer a variety of activities, which is nice. They provide housekeeping daily and do a good job. The food is good. The facility itself is also very clean. We are very happy with our choice. I would recommend them to friends and family.

We were very pleased with our short experience at Knollwood Pointe, when we came to tour she knew right away this is where she wanted to come. Unfortunately my mother has bad luck and hasn't been able to spend much time here. The staff is wonderful, [name removed] especially is just as sweet as she can be. My mother loved it here and we are sad she could not spend more time with them. We would absolutely recommend the facility to other families.

Pleased with our experience
We have been very happy with our experience at Knollwood Pointe. We chose this facility because of the staff members and the director was very nice and knowledgeable of what was going on. The room sizes here are pretty large, the one she has is good size for her and fits all her needs. I would recommend them to others looking.

Knollwood Pointe offered a wide range of activities, they would take the residents on small trips. They would play games and all sing together. It is a place where you would want your loved one to be, it is very inviting.

Pros and cons
Pros: Great fit for our Mom. Attentive and professional staff. Good meals.
Con: Questionable business practices by ownership. Monthly fee was increased by nearly 20% less than 6 months after we signed up and Mom moved in. We should have been informed about planned rate increases during our sign in process. The increase was legal and allowed under our agreement. But as a matter of transparent and above-board business practice, the increase should have bee n communicated to prospects. I am certain that ownership had plans for the increase at the time we were searching for a place for Mom.

How Knollwood has become part of our family.
My mother came to Knollwood Pointe over a year ago and we are very pleased with her new "home" where it's about the people and really caring for one another. The facility is the right size for residents to each feel they get individual care and attention and the residents and staff have become more like a family to one another. My mother has special diet needs and they have been super to accommodate those needs. The dietitian has become one of mom's angels there who goes over and above to make my mom feel loved and special. When mom recently had some irritation to her gums and difficulty chewing, she immediately made sure her food was cut up or soft. And the dietitian cares for everyone with that degree of care. My mother is a great example of what they have done to accommodate not just her physical needs but her emotional and social ones as well. Sometimes those are the most important! And so many of the staff there do so much more than their job description; my mom genuinely feels loved there! My 93 year old mother is stronger, happier, more socially involved, and mentally stimulated than when she first came here a year ago. And my extended family all love and use the new GrandGrams to send my mother messages and pictures. My mother doesn't use a computer or smart phone and otherwise would miss those connections with her family. She loves getting her Grams delivered to her door and shows them to everybody! And I love that I can send my mother pictures and share what's going on when we travel. And I'm so thankful to be able to travel and have peace of mind that my mom is being loved, is active, and cared for while I'm gone. There is no other place in Mobile where I would want my mom!
