Bad Medicine
These people do not care about their wards care, patients are placed in inhumane situations by JFS: with remarks to make themselves look like they have an interest in their welfare.. I know, because of how they denied my daughter's care in nursing home all because she wanted to come home to get better.. Let's not forget [facility removed], housed by Riverside Hospital

The Nightmare of Jewish Family Services of Tidewater
My nightmare with JFS is now over, both parents have passed. If you even considering using them for a loved one, take a physical trip to their offices so you can see for yourself that they work in a pig sty of boxes piled everywhere, disorganization, chaos. My father and sister were trying to crush me because I had to call APS on my father for his negligence of Mom as her Alzheimers progressed. These two idiots got an attorney to bring a conservatorship over Mom's half, and they inadvertently wrecked my father's credit after they swooped in a took Mom's cash out of the bank. I had to accept that Va. Beach courts routinely put this horrible, uncaring and incompetent organization over the life savings of adults in dementia. And once they have control, you can never change it. I had to deliver something to their offices, and that is how I saw the squalor they call "their offices". I saw a group of the most haggard women imaginable come out for their smoke break. First caseworker became embroiled in the family saga, and would not include me on e-mail chains, even the one where they decided to remove Mom to a nursing home! And they used Kings Grant, one of the absolute worst facilities in Hampton Roads. Even after the whole family saw how horrible Mom was treated, and we all implored JFS to move her, they said "No", stating Mom was too elderly for a move. Mom nearly died in that place, with a urinary tract infection that backed her urine up back into her blood stream. She would have died had I not visited her regularly and figured out what was happening. Being forced to work with them, not being able to keep them from paying themselves handsomely with Mom's money (and Mom paid for all the court costs, attorney's fees, etc., of having this greedy organization put over her!) while making decisions that continually kept her living in horrible conditions. I cannot state emphatically enough that you should NEVER put these people over a loved one. But it will keep happening, as I can attest to, from my own experience. All the Powers of Attorney, etc., that your loved one puts into place before becoming incompetent from dementia will NOT be able to keep them from taking over. All it takes is a complaint against you (founded or unfounded), a lawyer and a Petition for Conservatorship, where the Judges knowingly and willingly overthrow your loved one's POA in favor of them, and you'll know what I had to endure.

Inhumane treatment!
Do not trust this organization with your loved ones finances. They became conservator of my husbands 1.4 million dollar estate and have [Removed] him emotionally, psychologically, mentally and financially from the beginning. He has a new case manager every six months or so. We end up training the new case manager as to who and what needs to be paid. They are always late and in most instances our service gets cut off and we pay late fees. Once we got into a car accident and did not even know we had no car insurance and had to bond out of jail, go to court, pay fines and get another car AND THEY MADE US PAY WITH MY HUSBANDS MONEY. Most recently they let us get evicted from a rental home in another state but the worst is that my husband fell and broke his arm in February, he was released on April 9th but remains stranded in the facility because they sold our home and we have nowhere to live. They do NOT care!
