Assisted Living, Alzheimer’s Memory Care
About Harmony House
Harmony House is a unique place where people suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementing illnesses can still enjoy life. People don’t lose their humanity when they lose their memory skills. What people who live with a dementing illness lose is their ability to live comfortably in society. They don’t remember the rules the rest of us live by and they no longer fit in.
Harmony House provides a society where individuals can live entirely in their moment. They fit in because the flow of activity is designed to meet their special needs. Enjoyment of life takes a different form at Harmony House. Life here is less complex and the focus on routines of play and activities, nutrient rich meals and rest are nurturing and simple. Dementia residents can blossom in a social setting where they are not defined by their deficits.
Harmony House philosophy is that all residents remain involved and physically active to the extent they desire and are able. While individuals with dementia lose their memory of the past, the do not lose that special spirit that makes them who they are. They do not lose their personality. Experienced personnel at Harmony House recognize the continuity underneath the confusion and develop programs for individuals based on the things they enjoyed when they were well.
Harmony House is privately owned, promoting an environment of family and community that changes with the needs of the individual, rather than the requirements of corporate supervision. Harmony House has a simple pricing structure making it possible for more families to obtain care that might otherwise be out of reach.
Harmony House has been providing Alzheimer’s and dementia care for over ten years. It is our pleasure to offer our expertise and compassion to you and your loved one.
