nice community with areas of improvement
I feel there is not enough staff to monitor people as needed, example- my moms remote for her tv keeps getting lost and we have her name on it, staff cannot find, I know that can be challenging but would think staff goes in rooms often and could keep looking but do not believe they do. Also, several times when visited floors and tables in dining area dirty, I just think they need more staff.

Mixed experience
The staff are friendly but they're not appropriately staffed. the staff is nice but I have come across many times mom either doesn't have her hearing side in, room was not clean after she had accident (most recent), when the staff are supposed to be checking in her and helping her get ready in the mornings...we came in the afternoon.

Nice facility!
We toured Collinwood Assisted Living and Memory Care when searching for an Assisted Living facility for our loved one. This facility was super nice! The staff/people were also nice. They had walk in showers, but there was a lip to step over.

Worse mistake of my life - Trusting Mother to Collinwood
The worst mistake of my life was entrusting Mother to the care of Director [name removed] at Collinwood. While the facility is nice enough to look at, a few of the seriously overworked employees are making near heroic efforts to take care of some of the residents, and apparently the director (Director [name removed]) is good at making her management happy (by making them as much money as possible, including spending as absolutely little as possible on the residents), when it came to giving residents like my mother an optimal quality of life, Directory [name removed] failed miserably. Mother deserved better than the treatment she got there.
When I respectfully pointed out to Director Jacoby and her staff specific issues that should be addressed, e.g., cooking chicken so it was not raw, not having hair (human?) in food served to residents and their guests, allocating more than $1.67 per resident per meal (their numbers) (out of the thousands of dollars per month residents like my mother paid), OUT OF

I liked the location and the fact that after 24 months of self pay then when the resident runs out of money it then goes to Medicaid.
I disliked the cleanliness of the rooms, lack of doing the laundry along with poor communication.

very attentive and kind staff
I've been very pleased with Collinwood, we are happy with them and so is my dad. I've been very impressed by the staff and their attentiveness and kindness. I like when they have different music programs that come in, they have several church services, and my dad enjoys some of the movies they play in the evening. they have done a pretty good job of communicating with our family, I'm pleased with that as well. I would recommend Collinwood to others.

Best of the best
I liked Collinwood from the moment I walked through the front door, with the large fireplace and comfy chairs and engaged folks chatting with one another as they waited for the activities bus to take them on an excursion. The staff is extremely attententive, kind and quick to serve. We especially want to thank [Removed] for making the choice easy for us and the transition smooth for my mom. We especially like the fact that mom has a wonderful Physician's Assistant in house along with P.T.

We toured this community. We liked the staff and thought about this community. We would have liked this community. This community was not able to return the calls we had on additional care. Families might want to speak with the staff more on what is available for the care of a loved one.

I had canceled my appointment with [removed] as first visited with MacKenzie Place and the questions were answered there and was given a book on Senior housing so felt I needed more time to process everything. I had visted Collinwood years back for my mother in law and it was a great place then so rating it based on that time.

Too Spread Out
I didn't like that it was so spread out. The unit that they showed us was in a separate building in away from the main unit. I didn't think that my mom would be able to navigate such a large place. The value was also not as high; the cost was just as high as the one that we pulled her out of. I just didn't think it would be a good spot for her.
