An extraordinary community
I have never felt so comfortable giving an across-the-board five star review. My mom has been here nearly six months and is extremely happy. The staff is like an extended family, the residents couldn't be friendlier, the building and amenities are top notch and the food is consistently delicious.
My siblings and I all live out of state, so when we visit, it's often for an extended time and the 2-bedroom, 2-bath layout is perfect for us to be able stay with her. The kitchen is just the right size, the washer/dryer is a nice convenience and the view of the courtyard is beautiful.
Being able to continue her independent living was important to my mom, but so was the ability to get help when she needed it without having to move to another facility or even to another building. Chestnut Square was unique in being able to satisfy both requirements.
Finally, this place is a great value. A comparable facility where my wife and I live would be two to three times the price.

Great place to live
I am a recent resident at Chestnut Square in the Glen and enjoy living here. The facility has a great location across from the Glen with its shopping and restaurants, the Glenview Park Center with swimming and many activities and Glenview Senior Center. The building and grounds very attractive and are well maintained. We were attracted to its moderate size and compact design-no long hallways. Chestnut Square provides a broad range of activities; discussion groups, card games, talks, entertainment, etc. as well as a beautiful dining room and very good food but probably one of the most important factors was the residents and staff. The staff is warm, helpful and welcoming as are the residents. The residents are a diverse, interesting and caring group. We have many interesting discussions at dinner and other gatherings. We made many friends here just as we did in the neighborhood we left. Also, no more meal preparing, house maintenance, yard work or snow shoveling.

My New Home
The day I moved in, three residents knocked on my door, welcomed me and introduced themselves. I was immediately made to feel that I was home. What I like about Chestnut Square is that the location is within walking distance to a shopping center with restaurants, near a grocery, pharmacy and post office. Also the entrance fee is totally refunded upon vacating the premises.
Everyone is so friendly that I made good friends immediately. There are so many activites like lectures, movies, card games, board games, etc. You can be as involved as you want. Plus it has a wonderful chef who prepares the daily meals. There also are a hairdresser, podiatrist, weekly housekeeping, and a chapel with a minister who accommodates different religions. There is a driver who will take you to doctor appointments, restaurants, shopping etc. Everything you need is right here or close by. It's a good place.

Before moving in, I would visit a friend of mine every weekend and could see why she moved to Chestnut Square. And now that I am here, I think this is the greatest place I could ever hope for and I’m gonna live here forever.

Best decision ever was moving to Chestnut Square, It's like living at a Resort.
The place is impeccably clean. Kept us free of COVID -19 during the height of the pandemic. The food is healthy and delicious, staff are available 24/7, they are wonderful and go above and beyond my expectations. In summary, it's like living on a luxury liner without the water.

This place is a godsend
This is a lovely, reasonably-priced independent living facility that doesn't feel like a "facility" at all. It has really attractive common areas as well as individual apartments. There's a wide menu of activities and some transportation and light housekeeping included. The dining hall offers a wide variety of options and is quite accommodating. The staff is thoughtful and attentive, and, though this isn't a CCRC, they were of incredible help to us when our mom had a series of hospitalizations. The administration has been, thoughtful, thorough and vigilant in keeping residents safe during the pandemic.

So glad Mom is here!
We moved my mother to Chestnut Square from Los Angeles so she would be closer to us as she aged. She has now been here over nine years and is really happy with her living situation. The employees are so kind, the social opportunities are abundant and the programs have been both enjoyable and educational. I am thrilled that she has found friends with whom to share her daily experiences and has told me that these past years have made her really happy. We looked at five or six different communities before she came here and there's no doubt that she made the right decision when choosing Chestnut Square. As her daughter I feel confident and comforted that someone always has her best interests at heart.

They Hold Hostage Money that is Yours!
BUYER BEWARE: Chestnut Square agreement stipulates that you only get your "entrance Fee" back after you vacate (or pass on) AND the apartment is re-occupied. THAT COULD TAKE YEARS!!!!! This could be hundred of thousands $! Some families have been waiting 5+ years for repayment! Many lawsuits are in play!

I did not go with my mother when she toured this community but based on the paperwork and what she told me this would have been my favorite. I liked what they had to offer. The reason she went with another community was location.

I liked this community!!
They offer transportation within a 5 mile radius and they do not charge for this service. I liked this community but it was not what we were looking for. It did not offer the same amenities as the community we chose. It was a nice tour and the staff we met were nice.

Wonderful Independent Living Community
My mother moved in last year and loves it! The facilities are immaculately clean and she has a very nice one bedroom apartment. Weekly cleaning is included in the monthly fee and they do a great job. She loves the food and dinner is an event every evening with upscale restaurant-style service, white table cloths and a very large variety of options. My mother also enjoys the wide variety of activities and transportation options. She's so busy now with a thriving social life and many new friends. I've met many residents and staff since she moved in and everyone is incredibly nice and helpful. They seem to genuinely value feedback from residents and do a great job at keeping them informed. My mom has told me that the other residents love it there as much as she does and many have lived there since it opened 10 or 11 years ago. It's such a nice community and the location next to The Glen can't be beat. I don't think we could have picked a better place for my mom!

Happy with Choice
We are happy that our parents chose the Chestnut Square. The residents and staff are very nice. It's clean and nicely decorated for the fall and Holiday seasons. The quality of the food is very good and there is a nice selection daily. Sunday Brunch every other Sunday is enjoyable too. There are many programs and the facility is close to shopping, restaurants and movies. The building is part of a vibrant Glenview community and not tucked away in isolation.

Place was way too expensive and everyone I saw was walking with walker - Place looked very old and outdated and I felt as if I was in a nursing home. Absolutely loved the town of GLenview wish I could find something here
