Avalon was a great place for my loved on with dementia.
They were very accommodating as my love one needed more assistance and no per service added charges. All inclusive. I would recommend, that a friend check it out to see if it would work for their needs. It was great for my mom. She liked the homey Decore. Avalon is organized so care is given in a setting that is comfortable and easy to navigate. Minimizing falls and other hazards in memory care.

Safe and Secure Community and I am Very Happy We Moved My Loved One
I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones that need memory care. My loved one hasn't fallen since being here, and this is a big improvement from the prior community my loved one was at. The staff are very responsive with answers to the family's questions or concerns.
The community likes to keep the residents engaged with activities and socializing with other residents here.

My Father was a resident
My father was a resident that needed a lot of care and attention. The staff, from management to caregivers, was patient and communicative with us as we were unable to visit inside the facility due to Covid. We were updated on how he was doing regularly. When we were able to visit him outside, he seemed well cared for and was calm and relaxed. It was easy to arrange transportation for dr visits. I am grateful for the care and support we received from Avalon and they did their very best to help us through a difficult journey. I would highly recommend this facility.

A nurse's perspective
I'm a nurse that visits my patients at this facility. In my opinion it's the best in the area. If you're looking for a home for your loved one know that the owner is hands on and takes an interest in what's going on. I give him report on any complaints directly and he's thankful to hear it first hand! THAT is rare.

We are so blessed to have our loved one here. After a horrible experience with a skilled nursing facility Avalon's principals and approach to individualized needs for your loved one with dementia and dementia related diseases is of crucial importance. The first time you walk in you can feel the difference. The residents are clean, relaxed and comfortable. The Administration is professional, and honest. The staff is kind, caring and compassionate. I highly recommend Avalon Memory Care! This is truly a blessing!

Staff answered all of my questions
This review is based on first impressions from a personal tour. This community is set up as a large handsomely decorated spacious home-with open living areas and a chef in view fixing meals and snacks. I met with alot of the staff and everyone was friendly and showed a genuine concern for my husband's care. This community was taken out of consideration because I found an accommodating community closer to my home. I would recommend this community to other families.

They take good care of him!
My husband is doing much better at Avalon than at the place he was previously. He is eating better and the caregivers are very caring. They have lost their chef so their food is not as good as it was when he first moved in, but they are trying their best. No place is perfect. [Removed], the lady in charge of that building, is great. She treats the residents like gold. It has been a good experience.

Peace and serenity
After a thorough search for good memory care in the area, my sister and I both knew Avalon was the place to be for our mom. The facility is clean and well kept. The care philosophy was not cookie cutter but was customized based on the residents' needs. The size was more like home with only a dozen or so residents. We wanted to avoid a "facility" of numbers where your loved one could easily get lost in the shuffle.
What amazed us even more over time (mom has now been there 1 and 1/2 years) is the gentle hearts and genuine care of the staff. Avalon has managed to attract the best and manage the culture. When we take mom out for holidays or other visits outside, she can't wait to go home (Avalon) and is happy when she is back.
Thanks to them, we are able to spend quality time with mom when we visit and sleep a good night sleep when we are away knowing that our mom and our best friend is in good hands. We are truly blessed to have found such a place and people who care!

Home like environment!
What I like the most about this community is that they are strictly Alzheimer and memory care. The staff has all been great. The place is kept clean and the meals provided from what I heard were appetizing. I also really like the open layout, it feels more like home. When my father has had to go to the hospital, one of the staff members always stays with him until a family member showed up to stay with him. So far, it's been a good choice.

The fact is that hospital visits with this population tend to occur and if we do not send a staff member until a family member can get there a hospital often times has no choice but to chemically or, dependent upon the situation, physically restrain one of our dementia victims. The staff at Avalon Memory Care have been very pleasant. They are very friendly and have done a great job caring for our loved one. The community is well kept and nice. Bringing Carrollton Up to Speed
My mother fell and hit her head after being in the Carrollton Avalon for about 10 days. She spent 2 1/2 days in the hospital. There has been quite a bit of staff turnover at this location, which I have been told is not typical for the Avalon Care Homes. They are working hard to correct deficiencies in training and procedures, but it will take some time to get things up to snuff. My opinion is that this is not the best time to place a loved one at the Carrollton location. Hopefully, things will be much improved in a few weeks.

I am so sorry to hear that your mother had a fall at our location in Carrollton. They can happen so fast and without warning. My own mother two weeks ago had a fall power walking with one of her friends at the hospital and broke her hip. With our caregiver to resident ratio we prevent many falls on a daily basis but unfortunately cannot prevent them all. I agree that we have had some turnover that is not indicative of Avalon. We have made changes there that I know you are aware of that have addressed the issue. I feel that instantly the flavor of the home has changed and I believe that you would agree with this. I am not sure if this site allows for a follow-up or even if this answer goes directly to you but I can tell you this: We are a family company that has been taking care of those afflicted with Alzheimer's/ dementia for 21 years and when we see a problem we fix it. We are not perfect. We are dealing with an imperfect situation which is the reason that your loved one resides with us. Excellent community & caring staff...
I toured many communities before Avalon. As soon as I arrived, I knew this was the right place for my dad. It is a beautiful place, caring staff and great rooms. Matt gave a detailed tour and introduced us to staff, residents and visitors, all of whom he knew by name. He was also available for the many follow-up questions We had after our tour. I have complete peace of mind knowing my dad is safe and in a place that truly cares for his well being and happiness. Our family highly recommends Avalon to anyone looking for this type of care.

Offputting tour
We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one, and our tour was not a good experience. The salesman that gave us the tour was rude and pushy, and gave me a very used-car-salesman vibe. He also was not very respectful towards the residents, he talked about them right in front of them, and told me not to worry because "They can't understand me anyway!"

Anyone who has ever met Matt who does our tours in Carrollton and has been with Avalon for over 10 years knows that he is the most caring and compassionate person when it comes to talking with families as well as our residents and staff members for that matter. The alleged comments and quote written above would never have happened in a million years and it is personally offensive and slanderous to not only Matt but to this company as well to allow this review to stay on this site. We, at Avalon, are fine with criticism and reviews that are less than perfect but when it is clearly obvious that a review is false and is allowed to stay on a site that is when there is a serious problem. I visited there several times, interviewing staff, looking for a place for my mother to move. She is not quite ready yet, but if the opportunity comes, that is definitely where I want her to move. There are a variety of room sizes, and one of the things they offered that others didn't, was a small closet for limited selection of clothing for her to dress herself, as well as additional storage for her other belongings. The food was catered to each individual resident. I don't have an opinion on activities because I wasn't there to view them.
