Quality of Life Change for the family
The words "Thank you" do not do justice for what the owner and the administrator have done for me and my family but, especially for me. They held my hand every step of the way, responded quickly to my calls and emails with my questions and concerns. They know better then anyone else that this journey is not an easy one to take alone. I have been the primary person for my husband since his stroke in 2019. The team has given me the opportunity to start taking care of myself but most importantly they give exceptional care to my husband. The caregivers at the Avalon House are 2 very special ladies who treat my husband with dignity, care, concern, and respect. Once again, my family and I are forever grateful for the care given to my husband of 40 years.

Caring staff
I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the staff at Avalon 6 . I recently transferred a client from a nursing home facility to Avalon 6.
My first interaction was via email in with [name removed]. with her easy and professionalism , I could tell right away she cared . Upon transferring my client , I met [name removed] and the other staff members . I can’t express in words how I immediately felt at easy that my client would feel safe , cared for and loved. Even looking around at other residents , I can tell those little extra special touches , i.e., the home cooked meals , cleanliness, dry well maintained and dignity shown ,that Avalon 6 is a perfect place for your loved ones that need additional care . I highly recommend that your consider this place of full of LOVE !

Wonderful Home Environment
The staff at the Avalon House are amazingly kind and patient with all of the residents and always provide a loving environment for them all. They communicate with family regularly and I have never once doubted that we made the right choice.

Recommendation of Avalon house number 6!.
Avalon house number 6 is a great place for individuals who are frail or suffering from dementia. The staff has great experience in dealing with all types of situations. Furthermore, the staff displays fondness for the residents and provides that personal touch.

Very good personal care. I would enjoy the facility more if there were residents I could socialize with. Most residents have memory care challenges. I would recommend this facility to my family and friends.

Best option for dementia care in a home-like environment
My mother had severe dementia and we could no longer give her the care she needed in our home. Avalon House was a godsend. It was a lovely residential home with only 8 residents a mile from my home. The caregivers, (particularly [name removed], [name removed]& [name removed]) were so kind, patient & caring. Our mother received one on one care & they went out of their way to make her feel special. It was the best alternative, giving us peace of mind & allowing my mother to spend her last few months in a normal home-like environment rather than a big impersonal facility.

Exceptional Caregiver
The main caregiver at Avalon House on Hardwood Lane is exceptional. She’s one of those remarkable people that has the ability to “read” someone quickly & meet their needs. She’s proficient in performing day-to-day tasks & her keen organizational skills keeps the house running smoothly. She treats residents with respect & kindness & takes great pride in the variety of wonderful meals she prepares. She recently made my loved one’s birthday extra special complete with everyone singing “Happy Birthday” to music & a little dancing. She’s more than a caregiver, she’s a rare gem that’s doing exactly what she is meant to do, she’s a real treasure!
This is the third time I’ve placing a loved one in the care of Avalon House. My first experience was 12 years ago & I’ve recommended Avalon ever since. Thank you again Avalon!

Caring staff
My husband has been at this facility for several weeks now. He is always clean and well fed and the staff is caring and helpful. The patients here are all fairly advanced dementia patients and I imagine their job is very challenging but the whole team is professional, upbeat and always available to answer questions. It is hard to have my loved one living away from home but easier when I know that his caregivers at this home truly care for him, attend to his needs and show empathy and compassion for all the residents and their families.

[name removed] has cared for my mom for just over two years. She has been kind and caring and has attended to her needs superbly. She gives me frequent updates on her health and sends pictures when they are doing fun activities. She's taking my mom out for many walks on a sunny day. When my mom is up in the middle of the night, and everyone else is asleep, [name removed] is with her. I feel, very confident that my mom is in great hands when I am not there and [name removed] is.

My sister was a resident of Avalon House for four years. I was very happy with the level of care which she received from the staff. In particular we would like to thank the two house managers who were very kind to our loved one. Our visits were welcomed and we were confident that the Avalon was a home not just a house.

While there are a lot of nursing homes that have fancier facilities, I’m grateful I placed my wife who had Alzheimer’s in the Avalon residence. The caregivers were exceptionally conscientious and kind to my wife, especially [name removed] . I felt confident that my wife was always well taken care of and never neglected regardless of how difficult the situation sometimes became. I would strongly recommend [name removed] who combined professional competence and expertise with a very warm and loving personality.

Great place for loved one
Our family has had a great experience with Avalon House so far, we have already recommended it to families and we will continue to do so. Our loved one has a special puree diet so we are not sure about the quality, but they always give her what she wants. We think the value for the money is great and this community offers care quality care for the residents living there

We do specialize in special diets which does include a puree diet. If a doctor does prescribe a puree diet, we will follow those orders. We do puree home cooked meals so that they are not from a factory, and they were not premade. I hope that is helpful information for yourself and others.

The care givers there are doing a good job, whenever we come to visit or speak with them over the phone they are very informative and keep us updated with anything regarding our loved one. The care givers are very personable and are able to provide more of that one on one care. Perfect for memory care
They were caring, flexible, and they looked out for the residents.
They were very friendly, and very adaptable - meaning they could change easily when things change. Communication between the community and our family is very good.
I would recommend Avalon House of Hardwood Lane to others, and I already have.

A tour for care
This community for the care for my mom. This is more of a group home and not what we needed at this time. The menu was nice and clean. They would have had activities from time to time and we wanted something on a daily basis. The community was bigger than what we wanted. Families might want to consider a tour for the care of a loved.

I moved Mom in her new home on November 30, 2013 so we are new to Avalon.
Fairfax County is not cheap but Avalon appears to provide better care and more care than other places that charge the same price.
The staff appears to be helpful, caring and friendly. Their English is perfect. (not like other places in Fairfax County)
I picked this place not only for the above reasons but because the home is bright and cheerful.
The meals appear to be well prepared/good tasting. There does not seem to be as big a variety at meal time as in the place she was in before, it was much bigger, but the food looks more appealing.
They take care to keep her clothes covered and clean when she eats. I use to have to change her clothes before taking her out, where she use to live because of food stains from the previous meal(s). Not only are her clothes cleaner but her body is cleaner.
She use to fall a few times a week and does not seem to have the same problem in this place. Avalon seems more attentive to her needs.
Mom appears to be participating more in activities and meals.
Unfortunately her room is small with no closet but I was more concerned with her care than the size of her room.
