Agape Heritage Home Is A Place That Feels Just Like Home
The people are very friendly and attentive towards the residents that live in the community. There is a really good routine established in caring for the residents. They have even been able to get my loved one to eat on a consistent basis. The community will fix whatever my loved on wants and whenever they want to eat, and this has been very good for my loved one. I believe there are only seven residents in the community currently.

Stress-filled staff when coronavirus was present - family pretty much locked out
I think the care was okay. But my loved one with dementia tested positive for Coronavirus. And we weren't allowed to go inside to visit her. I did not get to see my loved one the last four months that she was alive. She had been at this same community for about 3.5-4 years. I'm having to live with the fact that my loved one left this earth without me being there. On top of not being able to see her for the last four months. The manager had been required on and off to lock down the facility. Then he'd allow one visitor at a time per family. And they'd have to lock down again with positive virus cases. I asked the director if we could visit looking through the window, and he said no because she hollered any time they tried to move her. And they never even tried to figure out a way to make it work. Most of the time he didn't even call back or email back. Very rarely would I hear back from him. He only wanted to speak to my brother who was power of attorney, even though I had told the director multiple times my brother is incapacitated and doesn't communicate to the rest of the family. He would get off the phone as quickly as possible, would tell me he would look into something and call me back. But he rarely called me back. He avoided me because he didn't want to do any of the things I was asking. The only way I was seeing my loved one at all was because the lead caregiver would put us on Whatsapp on her personal phone so we could talk to our loved one. The other ladies wouldn't do this for us. They were not nearly the caliber this one was. She knew we came to visit, brought our loved one things, had gotten to know us well. This lead caregiver had been gone on vacation right before my loved one passed away, or she would have let us know. One time when we were able to go inside to visit, the staff was standing there the whole time basically shooing me out, pestering every few minutes, saying your ten minutes are up. Ten minutes go by so fast. They were demanding, they were nervous, they didn't want anybody in there at all. I told this to the director, who didn't care. We went almost four years of not receiving any updates about our loved one's condition, because the director would only send those to my brother who never passed on the information. The only time we ever got to see her or talk to her after coronavirus hit was when that one caregiver went out of her way to contact us. We had a hard time even finding out what shape she was in once she contracted the virus. That's a terrible position to be in. The only reason the director called me the night our loved one passed away was because he couldn't reach my brother on the phone. So he finally called us. You can imagine how this made us feel, after we were the ones who had taken the time all these years to visit and look after her, and bring her things - snacks, lotion, clothes. And we didn't get to spend any time with her at the end. Even if we saw her through Whatsapp, it was no more than about 12-15 minutes where that one caregiver was good enough to walk down to the room in between her other duties and try to encourage our loved one to talk with us.

Knowledgeable and sincere
I really want to move my Grandmother into this community but, unfortunately, this facility is flooded. The facility itself when I toured was clean and very well maintained. All of the furnishings and décor were above average. This is a place you would really want to look. It appears to be professionally decorated. Everything was very well appointed. They also had a nice big kitchen and dining room. All of the staff I met was very friendly. They seemed very knowledgeable, caring, and sincere. They had plenty of staff to take care of all of the residents. The rooms are nice and spacious but there is no kitchen. They did tell me I can bring a mini fridge in if my Grandmother wanted one. When I went to tour the facility, the staff had everyone around the table in the dining room playing board games. The staff really doesn’t like residents sitting in their rooms all day. They bring them to the community room and have them watch TV so they can mingle with each other. I would really recommend this facility once it’s repaired.

Only shared room available at this location, BUT he is opening a new home and is ready for his first resident. Plenty of room choices there! Home is beautiful. Location is not great for me, however. One positive: once a care level & price is decided, your rate never goes up.

My concern was the lack of trained me...
My concern was the lack of trained medical personnel and the staff being able to handle my loved one's medical situation. However, the PCA's are wonderful. They do well with the PEG tube, care and maintenance and also with the indwelling catheter. The home health RN has visited and the PA for the MD has also visited. Being a medical professional, I expect a certain level of care and I am happy to say that the Agape Heritage Home is meeting my expectations. Plus, the ladies, (PCAs) taking care of my sibling are absolutely wonderful, caring people and they truly are concerned about her well being, comfort and progress.
