A Place for Mom Advisor Snapshot: Glenda Jordan, Senior Living Advisor, RN, BSN, CSA, Nashville, TN
Glenda Jordan helps seniors and families during one of the most trying times in their lives. She provides assisted living community guidance and referrals when emotions are running high and decisions have to be made.
Glenda finds her job incredibly rewarding as she feels “joy and a sense of accomplishment” as she is able to help families in need. Often when families contact Glenda they’re in a difficult situation and she is able to provide senior living insight and resources which saves them time and energy. “You’re so appreciated,” Glenda says. “Families are constantly telling you that they ‘couldn’t do it without you’ or that ‘you’re an angel.’ The families are so overwhelmed and you’re able to be the calm in the storm. That’s a great feeling.”
Glenda’s Background
Glenda has worked at A Place for Mom for 7 1/2 years and has a background in nursing. She was an administrator for a medical home health agency and hospice, which led her to her Advisor position at A Place for Mom.
Glenda enjoys helping families evaluate senior care options, finances and amenity preferences, catered to their individual situations. By nature, Glenda believes she is a “pleaser” which helps makes her a great listener. She is well equipped to answer senior care questions and educate families about the senior living options in their area and is an excellent, expert resource for those in need.
Most Rewarding Part of Being an Advisor
Glenda loves that she is able to apply her senior care and housing expertise to help her own friends and family. “You feel really good about that,” she says, “You can take an emergency situation and make something happen right away. It’s nice to help everyone and especially wonderful when you can help friends and family in a tough predicament.”
Glenda also enjoys the contact with the families. “You get to laugh, sometimes cry… You just connect.” By sharing the sadness and difficulties families endure during the sometimes tough transition to senior care, Glenda becomes more than an Advisor—she becomes a confidante.
